Queen Charlotte_03.jpg
Queen Charlotte sculpture by Washington, DC sculptor Raymond J. Kaskey. The statue is the centerpiece of a fountain between the hourly parking decks and the concourse baggage claim entrances at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. Dedicated in 1990, the statue depicts Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who had become queen consort of Britain's King George III the year before the City's founding in 1768. Queen Charlotte is the City's namesake. The air traffic control tower is in the background.
