Queen Charlotte sculpture by Washington, DC sculptor Raymond J. Kaskey. The statue is the centerpiece of a fountain between the hourly parking decks and the concourse baggage claim entrances at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. Dedicated in 1990, the statue depicts Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who had become queen consort of Britain's King George III the year before the City's founding in 1768. Queen Charlotte is the City's namesake.
