Litter-- 80% plastic drink containers-- covers an island in the Catawba River in Lancaster County, SC. Miles downstream from the City of Charlotte, trash litters the islands and shoreline. Upstream of the tributary which drains the City, there is hardly any trash. For this clean-up event, Duke Energy sent a boat to pick up the trash bags, tires, and other items.
